Sermon: Matthew 6:19-24/ Sermon on the Mount Series: Treasure on Earth & Heaven
Day of Fasting – TODAY
We would like to invite any of you who are willing to join us in fasting today, Sunday, January 29th. Fasting is a spiritual discipline that can help us to draw near to God in dependence upon him. There are many things in our lives and in the world that we need to trust God for, and so we wanted to provide this opportunity to join together as a church body and humble ourselves before the Lord by fasting. This is not something to be taken lightly, both physically and spiritually, so please give some consideration and prayer to how you would like to go about fasting on Sunday if you choose to do so. You may fast for half of the day or for the entire day. You may choose to fast from all food other than juice and water, or you may choose to fast from all food and only drink water. Whatever you choose to fast from on Sunday, please think on how you can use this time to draw near to God in prayer for our church, our community and for the world.
We don’t want anyone to fast out of obligation, and if you have any health conditions that would give you reason for concern, please consult your doctor about those concerns. If you need more information about the spiritual discipline of fasting, please watch or listen to the most recent sermon in our Sermon on the Mount series.
Members Meeting – TODAY
We will be having a meeting for members of Summitview today, Sunday, January 29th, from 11:30 – 12:30 after the service. We are going to take this time to primarily pray through various things that we need God’s guidance and wisdom in for the year ahead, and since some of us will already be depending on the Lord through fasting we hoped to depend on the Lord all the more through a time of extended prayer together. If you are a member of Summitview please make an effort to be there if at all possible. We will be meeting in the auditorium and childcare will be provided.
Charitable Giving Reports
Please be on the lookout an email coming from “Intuit E-Commerce”. We have started sending out people’s 2022 Charitable Giving Reports this week. If you have not received your report by February, please check your spam folder. If you see any corrections that need made to your report, please contact Rebecca at firstname.lastname@example.org. And, if you gave less than $250 and would like a report, please email Rebecca.
***Note: You will notice that your beginning of the year donations are marked in March. We had issues with our online giving platform at the start of 2022. Your donations were still received, they are just labeled with the “Paid Out” date instead of the “Received” date. Sorry for the confusion.
