Fall Sunday School Plans
Hello all! We are preparing to move forward with our fall Sunday School plans! Our theme this year will be ‘Let the Children Come.’ This is an exciting time for children to be involved in Sunday morning worship services and we want to welcome them! We also want to welcome children ages infant- young 5 yr olds to come into a loving and safe environment in the nursery/toddler areas.
We have had nursery and toddler care available for part of July and the month of August (thank you to all who have helped make this happen!).
We will continue with nursery for the month of September.
In October we’d like to keep our nursery open for children up through 2 years old. And we’ll officially open up a toddler room for children ages 3-4, and young 5-year olds.
We will need 2 adult teachers in each room, and we’ve designed it for volunteers to sign up for 2-week stints (2 consecutive weeks).
Below is a signup genius link to give people a chance to choose their slot. We can also use teens in each class if any teens are interested in helping.
We also need subs, so please consider signing up for a sub position if you cannot commit to a 2-week stint.
One thing to note: We are asking each teacher or volunteer serving to wear a mask for the duration of the class (children will not be required to wear a mask). And we are asking teachers to spray/wipe down the surfaces, toys, and other items in the room at the end of Sunday School.
We suspect this will be our Sunday School plan through the rest of 2020 but for now we have the sign-up listed for the fall. We will be reevaluating periodically and mid-year as things seem to change minute-by-minute! (Praise the Lord, He does NOT change! James 1:17).
Would you consider joining us by signing up for one of these 2-week spots or as a sub?
Please direct any questions to Jack and Kelli Wuest or Joey and Robin Taylor (your Sunday School directors).
Conquer Series- starting Sept. 20th
Thank you for being patient during this pandemic while we had to pause our plans of starting our Conquer Series. The Conquer Series is not about behavior modification, but heart transformation. This life-changing, 5-week discipleship curriculum provides insights from top Christian leaders who lay out biblical strategies, scientific facts and teach men how to use God’s weapons to become conquerors.
Every man and every young man is invited to join us as we go through this series.
We plan to start the series on Sunday, September 20 at 2:00pm at the church
building. If you have not already, please let Tom Grove know if you
plan to come. His email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
“The Conquer Series is an amazing combination of grit and grace. God is using the Conquer Series to help us win an epic battle for our lives and our legacies.”- Kevin Noble
Wellspring Retreat Updates
Ladies! Thank you for your enthusiastic response to the Wellspring Retreat times! The October Wellspring retreat to Colorado Springs is full! There is an opportunity for another retreat in November. Kelli Wuest will be taking a group to Breckenridge Nov 5th-7th. There are still a couple of spots open so please contact her if you’re interested. Also, if you have any questions about the purpose of these retreats and what they’re all about, get in touch with Erin Pavlik, Virginia Rogers or Kelli Wuest.
Sunday Morning Service Revised Guidelines
After spending time in Romans 14-15 and seeking the Lord’s heart in prayer regarding how to best love and serve our body, the leadership team at Summitview Community Church would like to announce some changes to our current COVID meeting guidelines.
The following guidelines are our attempt to follow Galatians 6:10 (So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith) and to reflect Romans 14:19 (So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding) while ultimately accomplishing Romans 15:5-6 (May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ). We will not require the use of masks during our worship service, however each person may wear a mask if they so choose. We desire to create an environment that allows you to freely practice your own convictions in this matter. Masks will be made available at the door for those that want one. Each Sunday our greeters, ushers, and those who prepare and serve the communion will wear masks while serving the body.Chairs in the auditorium will be rearranged to the traditional format, however rows will be spaced further apart to better accommodate distancing. Rows allow us to more easily accommodate visitors, give more flexibility for seating households of various sizes, and allow more location choices for each household. We will no longer employ a ticketing format, rather you can select your own seats each Sunday morning in a location that best serves you and/or your family. Ushers will be available at each entrance to help maintain social distancing between households within each row.We realize that, in spite of the above changes, we will not be able to accommodate every personal conviction. As such, we will continue to offer live streaming for every Sunday service. We would encourage the entire body, but especially those that cannot join us on Sunday mornings, to stay connected with others in the church in whatever way possible, one of which would be involvement in one of the many Community groups that meet each week.
Don’t give up meeting together but consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. (Hebrews 10:24-25)
We love you church!
